READING’S own Only The Poets have announced they are playing two free homecoming shows this summer.

The band is set to return to the place where it all started–The Purple Turtle– ahead of a US tour supporting indie icons The Wombats later this year.

It also comes hot on the heels of their latest release, Emotionally Hungover, co-written by frontman Tommy Longhurst with Matt Rad and Janeva, and produced by fellow Reading musician DanDlion alongside OTP’s Marcus Yates and Clem Cherry.

The shows will be the latest in a busy year for the band–one which has already seen them sell more than 20,000 tickets in their European tour, as well as sell-out debut shows in New York, Los Angeles, and Boston.

The band performed at The Purple Turtle in 2023 to celebrate signing with EMI Records, and the shows this summer are set to mark the start of a new chapter for the band.

Only The Poets are now set to play two free shows: one at Banbury’s Also Known As on Friday, August 29, followed by one at Reading’s Purple Turtle on Saturday, August 30.
