A NEW partnership is set to see a consolidation of CCTV ownership and investment in infrastructure in Thames Valley.
Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Barber has announced the Thames Valley CCTV Partnership with Thames Valley Police and local authorities.
The first phase saw the transfer of CCTV ownership from councils to TVP in Milton Keynes and Slough, as well as investment in infrastructure to improve coverage and provision in the areas.
Despite developments elsewhere, there has been no decision yet made on how Reading will fit into the partnership.
A spokesperson for the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner: “We continue to talk to Reading Borough Council about CCTV provision in the town.
“The first phase to go live was with Milton Keynes and Slough, later this year we hope to go live with Oxfordshire.
“The invitation to join the CCTV Partnership remains open to all local authorities in Thames Valley, but no decisions have been taken as yet regarding Reading by either the Council or the police.
They added: “The focus will be on successfully delivering the first two phases and demonstrating the benefits to the new Partnership, which we hope will continue to grow in the future.”
