RESIDENTS are being reminded to have their repeat prescriptions in order ahead of pharmacy closures over Christmas and New Year.
Some community pharmacies and all GP surgeries will be closed over the upcoming bank holidays, so patients should order their repeat prescriptions as soon as possible.
Patients have the option of using the NHS app, which can be used to order prescriptions to a community pharmacy for collection or to be delivered, if available.
Patients can also order prescriptions through their GP practises, many of which have an online repeat prescription service on their websites.
Patients without online access can call their surgery for repeat medication which can be collected in person or sent to a pharmacy of your choice.
Dr Abid Irfan, chief officer primary care at Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire & Berkshire West ICB, said: “Help yourself stay well over the Christmas and New Year holidays by making sure you have enough of your medication to see you through.
“It’s best to order your usual medications well in advance, especially if you’re going away. And you can also help by checking with vulnerable family members, friends and neighbours that they have the medications they need.
“GP practices are closed over the Christmas and New Year bank holidays and many pharmacies have different opening times.
“If you do run out of your medication, NHS 111 online can offer advice on how to get an emergency supply–but it’s always best to be prepared.”
