AN HISTORIC Reading town centre pub is set to reopen after being bought.
The Sun Inn in Castle Street shut last May, bringing to an end four centuries of serving the town.
Dating back to the 17th century, the historic building was offered to the market for £750,000.
The Brasserie Bar Co, also known as the Heartwood Collection, has applied to Reading Borough Council to make extensions to the rear outbuildings that would include a new trade kitchen, and see the car park replaced with a pub garden.
The company is also seeking to create additional toilet facilities on the first floor and a new accessible toilet as well.
The Brasserie Bar Co was founded by chef Raymond Blanc and operates 20 pubs across the country, with its most recent opening in Henley-on-Arden. It claims to offer a fresh seasonal menu in pubs that are beautiful and atmospheric spaces.
