A NEW music night that aims to evoke the spirit of one of the most famous jazz clubs in the world will launch in Reading next week.
Organisers of the Blue Cavern Music Club say they aim to bring world-class live band nights to the town.
The first event, on Wednesday, May 29, from 7.30pm, will see a performance from Mimi & The Mulberries jazz quartet take to the stage, supported by a solo set from award-nominated blues musician Thomas Heppell.
It will be held at Calico Bar and Eatery in Hotel 1843 on London Street – the site of the former Great Expectations pub.
Organisers say: “Each month we’re aiming to bring you something different, with live performances from the finest professional musicians and touring bands on the Jazz, Funk, Soul and Blues scene.
“Imagine the exclusive charm of Ronnie Scott’s, but right on your doorstep.”
Entry is free, but seating must be reserved in advance.
