A NEW branch of a discount homeware store is expected to open in a Reading retail park this autumn.
Home Bargains, which already has a branch in the Reading Link Retail Park, off the A33 Rose Kiln Lane, is moving into the former home of Go Outdoors and SCS sofa and carpet specialists.
It is part of a shakeup of the Brunel Retail Park, off Rose Kiln Lane and near the Morrisons supermarket. This sees units combined to create larger spaces.
Home Bargains is now recruiting ahead of its planned Saturday, September 16, opening date, and the site will include a café and a garden centre.
Earlier this year, the company submitted an application to sell alcohol 24 hours a day to Reading Borough Council’s licensing department.
It was granted for the hours of 7am to 11pm daily, but other branches close at 8pm, 9pm or 10pm.
MCTGF, the owning company of Brunel Retail Park, won approval to provide larger premises for Home Bargains in July last year.
Its plan involved the amalgamation of units 4 and 5 of the retail park to provide more space for Home Bargains, which provide it with 4,546sq m of floor space, with 840sq m reserved for food and drink sales.
Fellow discount store B&M is preparing to move into the unit previously occupied by Next.
