Prospective buyer of Reading Football Club Daniel Loitz has spoken out on the bidding process and has claimed current owner Dai Yongge has made a ‘mockery’ of the situation.
The Royals have been in the midst of a takeover saga for several months as fans and staff have had to endure what has been a nightmarish reign under Dai Yongge which has seen the club punished for financial misdemeanours.
.German investor Loitz has claimed that he put in a bid for the club and refutes claims that he failed to provide proof of funds to take his bid forward.
Talking to iNews, Loitz said: “This is the wildest thing. I already went through a process of proof of funds with verification from banks and provided all the documents in January.
“I have signatures by account managers, signatures from JP Morgan, Revolut Business. The money is available.
“When you want to be approved by the EFL you need to prove purchase price and prove you have two years of funding and a purchase plan and I already went through that.
“We have the accounts statements plus account information, plus audit confirmation, plus signature of the account manager.”
Loitz is the director of Hokulani Limited who own several women’s football clubs across the globe.
Loitz continued: “Mr Dai is the owner, he can decide if he wants to sell or not but he is making a mockery of this whole situation, he is torturing fans, the public and making a mockery of the EFL and other people who want to invest in football.
“The history of Mr Dai is very clear and on record. This is not gentleman’s behaviour.”
It has also been reported by Sky Sports that Loitz is in talks to takeover London Irish Rugby club, who previously played their home matches at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
As part of the deal to take over the Exiles, he has planned to bring them back to Berkshire.
Loitz took to Twitter to address this. He said: “I would like to address Reading fans in particular and everyone who has a heart for the community.
“For months I have been in constructive discussions about bringing back the rugby club London Irish and brining this unique club back to the community in and around London and Reading.
“London Irish could be a reliable tenant at Reading Stadium and our expertise in women’s football could significantly reduce a deficit for Reading Football Club in their women’s department.”
