LAST WEEK, an independent cinema in Reading celebrated a milestone with a weekend of events, screenings, and ticket deals.

Reading Biscuit Factory celebrated its second birthday with special showings of classic movies Hairspray, You’ve Got Mail, and Goodfellas, with £5 tickets.

The weekend also saw Hip-Hop label Certain Sounds Records take to the decks to entertain attendees with a live DJ set, Pilates taster sessions with Sylvia Wolfer, and a number of creative workshops with artist Caroline Streatfield.

The venue also hosted a special birthday quiz night to round out the weekend’s festivities.

General Manager Matthew Ferguson said: “Reading Biscuit Factory had a fantastic 2nd birthday celebration, with over 1000 local people making their way through our doors and attending film screenings, workshops and events with us.

He also explained: “Looking ahead, we are thrilled to be hosting screenings this September in partnership with Reading Pride Festival, as well as kicking off autumn with the return of our monthly cult film screenings ‘Keep It Cult’.
