THE Met Office has issued a weather warning for the south east, but it doesn’t apply to Reading and Wokingham … despite forecasting snow for the region.
The yellow snow and ice alert runs on Monday and Tuesday, and is for an area that covers Kent and Sussex.
Temperatures are expected to be below freezing, and snow is forecast for the Tuesday morning commute.
At the moment the Met Office is hedging its bets, saying it’s a 50% chance that the white stuff could fall on Reading and Wokingham. Indeed, snow is very localised and in 2019, Wokingham received a large dollop of the stuff, enough to let people go sledging, while Reading just saw rain.
Other weather charts are suggesting it is possible a heavier band of snow could fall across the Thames Valley.
Snow is very hard to forecast precisely as it relies on certain atmospheric conditions, which can change rapidly.
The Met Office weather warning for the South East runs from 2am on Monday, January 16, through to 8am, but again this could change.
Its website says: “There is a chance that heavy rain will turn to snow in places, which may cause some travel disruption on Monday morning.”
