A MENSWEAR retailer in Reading town centre is to move location this spring.
Slaters Menswear is currently in Broad St. Mall, but is planning to move into the former Sports Direct store – which used to be a branch of Boots the Chemist prior to it moving to The Oracle.
The sports, footwear and fashion retailer moved into the former Clas Ohlson store – which used to be Woolworths – in July last year.
George Ferguson, a director at Slater Menswear, said he hopes the new store will open in May.
A noticed on the doors of the store reveals a planned schedule of works, including removing existing fittings, and installing stud walls, a kitchen, toilets, shop fixtures and signage to reflect the change.
Broad St. Mall is also subject to a possible revamp: owners AEW wants to demolish part of the building’s rear, and replace it with tower blocks containing apartments.
