A man has been sentenced to jail after he was convicted of rape, assault and coercive behaviour in Berkshire.
Alexander Olvier, 36, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and a count each of engaging in controlling/coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in a hearing at Reading Crown Court on June 2nd.
Returning to the same court on Thursday 14 August, Oliver was sentenced to a total of eight years’ imprisonment.
He was also given a restraining order.
Between 2018 and 2023, Oliver targeted his victim on a number of occasions, raping her, assaulting her and displaying controlling behaviour towards her.
The offences were reported to Thames Valley Police in 2023 and following a thorough investigation, Oliver was arrested on 1 July 2024.
He was charged on 22 April this year and pleaded guilty to the offences in June.
Detective Constable George Randell, of Slough CID, said: “I would like to pay tribute to the victim for her courage in coming forward and reporting these offences and for her support throughout what was a long investigation.
“Oliver’s behaviour was absolutely abhorrent, and I am pleased that he spared the victim the ordeal of a trial and admitted his guilt to these offences.
“I would encourage anybody who has been through such abuse to please report this to Thames Valley Police.
“No matter what the passage of time that has passed, we will investigate thoroughly and seek to bring offenders before the courts.
“Thames Valley Police has experienced officers and staff who are dedicated at bringing those responsible for such offences to justice.”
