TEAMS from Reading Buses are set to pound the pavement on a familiar route in aid of charity this week.

On Friday, September 20, teams from the company’s finance and IT departments will embark on a walk to raise funds for Reading Buses’ charity of the year, the Royal Berkshire Charity (RBC).

They’ll be covering the entire stretch of the Purple 17 route, which extends from the water tower in Tilehurst to the Three Tuns pub in eastern-most Reading.

They’ll don purple fancy dress, including a purple dinosaur costume, in the latest in a series of fundraisers for the RBC.

RBC was selected by the company as the recipient of its charitable proceeds for this year, for which Reading Buses has already raised most of their target for the year of £2,024.

All money raised will help the Royal Berks Charity fund initiatives that provide new equipment, research, improvements to the patient environment, and staff training.

Those taking part will also be handing out Reading Buses merchandise such as pens and bags on the way.

Their journey will feature progress updates on the Reading Buses Twitter (now X) account.

Management accountant Sharmila Perera said: “We want to raise as much as possible for such a worthy cause.

They provide support for everyone at some point in our lives, and a vital service to the community.”
