MOTORISTS are being advised to plan ahead as part of the M3 motorway is set to be closed next weekend.
National Highways has published a clarification following errors in the announcement of the closure earlier this week, as works are set to begin on the road.
From Friday, February 9, the M3 London-bound carriageway will be closed between junctions 3 (Farnborough) and 4a(Bracknell/Woking).
It will be closed across the weekend while upgraded barriers are installed, road markings are renewed, and resurfacing works are carried out.
The London-bound slip road approaching from Frimley will also be closed at junction 4 during the same weekend.
National Highways advises motorists should divert via the exit at junction 4a and join the A327, then turn right onto the A30.
The diversion continues through Grove End link road, turning left onto the A322, before turning left to rejoin the M3 London bound at junction 3.
The closure follows an inspection in May last year which found “significant deterioration” at the road, requiring extensive, full-time repairs.
