FIVE local teams will be competing in this year’s 2022/23 Vitality Women’s FA Cup.
This year’s contest will commence on Sunday, September 11 with the first qualifying round as there will be no preliminary round in this season’s competition.
438 clubs will battle out to compete for the prize which will be lifted in the final at Wembley Stadium in May.
Southern Region Women’s Football League teams Eversley & California, Woodley United and Caversham United will be in the competition.
Woodley compete in the Southern Region Women’s Premier Division.
They are looking to build on what was a tough campaign in the 2021/22 season.
The Kestrels finished in ninth place after winning one of their 16 league matches but are seeking to come back stronger for the upcoming campaign.
Caversham compete in Thames Valley Division One and finished in sixth place last season.
They totalled 23 points from 16 matches with seven wins, two draws and seven defeats.
South Region Women’s Football League Premier Division side Ascot United will enter the competition in the second qualifying round after receiving a bye from the first-round.
Women’s Super League side Reading will begin their campaign in this year’s FA Cup in the fourth-round.
Kelly Chambers’ Royals team reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 2019.
They were one step away from reaching the final at Wembley, but lost out in a heartbreaking defeat to West Ham United.
Rachel Furness put Reading ahead with a powerful header, but West Ham levelled the game up through Alisha Lehmann.
The teams couldn’t be separated throughout 120 minutes which meant the game went to penalties.
It was a painful defeat for Reading as they lost out 4-3 which saw the Hammers reach the final.

Reading were also knocked out by West Ham in last year’s FA Cup.
Again the teams couldn’t be separated in a close contest throughout 90 minutes as the knockout tie went to extra-time.
One goal was enough to win the game as Dagny Brynjarsdottir netted in the 107th minute to put West Ham through to the semi-finals.
