ONE OF Reading’s grooviest bands is bringing a showcase of emerging talent to the town this week with their inaugural CIC showcase.
Limpopo Groove, Reading’s own afro-fusion outfit, is bringing and evening of live performances to display the talents of some rising stars of Berkshire’s music scene.
As well as performing themselves, the band will be joined by Pete Doyle with Harmonic Motion, Reading-based soloist Izzy Evans, and DJ Paul Childs.
Reading Rock Academy’s new female-fronted rock band, Luminaria, will also be performing, hot on the heels of their appearance at Readipop Festival back in the summer.
Their set at the festival saw a mix of confident original music and assured covers.
Limpopo Groove has been bringing upbeat, afro-infused music to Reading since it was established in 2009 by Tomson Chauke.
They blend African jazz sensibilities with European influences with original songs in both English and Shona, featuring polyrhythms and diverse instrumentation.
Limpopo Groove and Friends’ Friyay takes place at The Butler, Chatham Street, from 7.30pm on Friday, November 24.
