League One side Barnsley are set to win the race to sign former Reading FC young star Caylan Vickers.

Vickers made his way through the Reading academy and broke into the first team in the 2023/24 campaign and impressed with his performances for the senior side.

Having scored three times in 22 games in all competitions, Vickers won plenty of suitors for his excellent technical ability.

He moved to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2024 to play in their under 21s set-up.

He spent the second-half of last season on loan with League One side Mansfield Town where he scored two League One goals in 19 games.

Vickers now looks set to make a move away from Brighton, potentially on loan, and EFL transfer pundit Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Barnsley are leading the race for his signature, despite interest from Championship teams.
