POLICE are trying to trace a man armed with a knife who attempted to slash his victim in an assault last month.
The incident took place on Wednesday, June 9, around 10am, although Thames Valley Police has only just released details of the incident.
It took place on View Island in Caversham.
The attacker approached his victim, a 36-year-old man, on a secluded part of the island. He asked his name and then accused him of having committed historic offences, before drawing the knife and attempted to use it.
Although he missed, his victim’s knee was cut. No hospital treatment was required.
The attacker ran off in the direction of Mill Road.
He was a white man, around 36 and medium to slim build. He spoke with a deep voice and was wearing a surgical face mask at the time of the incident.
He was also wearing a grey hooded top with a white NIKE tick logo on the left-hand chest area, blue jeans and dark shoes.
