Reading FC midfielder Tivonge Rushesha has opened up on his personal struggles this campaign and has described this season as ‘sh*t’ and ‘disgusting’.
The 23-year-old has struggled for game time and has opened up in a video which he posted on Youtube, reflecting on a difficult season for him personally.
He said: “I’ve hated this season. I’m a competitor, I want to play, I want to win, I want to be the best player on the pitch everytime i play a game.
“Everything I’ve gone through this season isn’t personal to me. There are players who have gone through what I have and there will be players that go through it after me.
It’s sh*t. I’ve played five first team games this year, I haven’t made a bench in the league and that’s a disgusting feeling.
“I look back and it’s f*cking disgusting, it’s so sh*t. It’s just disgusting. You feel as a player you can do more and contribute but don’t get the opportunity and you then try to make sense of it. It makes sense for a bit and then it stops making sense again.”
Rushesha, who has played a total of 38 first-team games since joining Reading from Swansea in 2023, also opened up on his struggles of still playing under 21s football despite being 23.
He continued: “Through that I’m grateful because I’m fit and healthy but then it’s tiring. The last first team I played was in October and through that period I have tried to find opportunities to play, those opportunities have not come to fruition through no fault of my own.
“I’ve had to train knowing that nothing I do will change anything but still have to train properly with respect for myself and respect for the rest of the team and for my own benefit. That’s tough.
“I then play 21s games. I first played under 21s games when I was 15, I’m now 23 so that’s a mental struggle. This season from turning 23 to 24 is a write off, where does that leave me?”
