Former Reading FC manager Alan Pardew has expressed his sadness at the state the club finds itself in with the threat of expulsion from the English Football League (EFL).
News broke last week that owner Dai Yongge has been disqualified by the EFL as the league tries to force him to divest his shares in the club.
It has also been reported that the club will have until May 4 to find a buyer or they could face being disqualified from the football league, however this has not been confirmed by the EFL who released a statement to update on the situation last week.
Pardew managed the club from 1999-2003 until he left the club in controversial circumstances to join West Ham United.
Having started his managerial career with the Royals, Pardew went on to manage several Premier League clubs including Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and West Brom.
Speaking on TalkSport about the situation, former manager Alan Pardew said: “They have a great history. It breaks my heart because it’s a massive club, right on the outskirts of London, right by Heathrow, it’s perfect to get back to the Premier League, it’s a great opportunity.
“But we need to get this guy (Dai Yongge) out.”
