Investigations are taking place after a construction worker suffered fatal injuries at a building site in Reading.
Groundwork is currently taking place as part of a Reading Borough Council project to build a respite care centre and 17 affordable homes in Amethyst Lane, Southcote.
A worker suffered fatal injuries while working at the site at around 9.20am on Wednesday, February 19.
The man, aged 36, sadly died of those injuries at the Royal Berkshire Hospital on Sunday, February 23.
He has not been named.
Investigations are being undertaken by the Health and Safety Executive and Thames Valley Police.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service has contacted the Berkshire Coroner’s Office for updates, including when an inquest into the incident will take place.
The site was the home of the Amethyst Lane Day Centre and offices for the council’s Protection and Planning department.
However, these buildings have been completely demolished to make way for a respite care facility, 10 three-bed and seven four-bed homes contained within three new terraces.
The project is being undertaken as part of the council’s newbuild housing programme, with councillors approving it in December 2023.
The site is sealed off by hoardings. A sign on the hoardings states that work is being undertaken by the Helix construction company which is based in Newbury.
