TWO COMMUNITY groups teamed up for a joint coffee morning in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support.
Teas and coffees were served to guests from the Inner Wheel and Rotary Clubs of Reading Maiden Erlegh, who took to a member’s house on what was a beautiful day.
Donations were made by those who attended and those who weren’t able to, coming out to £800 in total. The event gave visitors the opportunity to take part in the MacMillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning initiative, with community groups holding their own events on and around the official date of Friday, September 29.
Last year, the initiative helped MacMillan raise £12 million.
The Inner Wheel Club meets at Sonning Golf Club on the third Thursday of each month to engage in activities, raise funds for charity and support initiatives in the community, and welcomes new members.
At the club’s September meeting, the Club President presented a cheque for £4,350 to a representative from Berkshire Women’s Aid. The club has also donated toys, households and toiletries throughout the past year.
