AFTER last year’s inaugural three-day event, Reading Indie Comedy Festival is returning to venues across town this spring.
Mates Rates Comedy is bringing a weekend of sketches, stand-up, and roasts from some of comedy’s biggest names and rising stars.
On its first day, the festival will crown Reading’s New Comedian of the Year at The Purple Turtle as a new set of budding stand-ups compete for the title.
Andy Gleeks is also bringing his latest show, These Fragments I Have Shored Against My Ruin, to The Roseate, in which he explores divorce and leaving his job.
On Saturday, Darren Harriott, Luke Chilton, and Geoff Steel are also bringing stand-up to The Purple Turtle, while Harriet Kemsley and Rhodri Buttrick will perform at The Outlook.
Headline act and star of Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, and Dave’s One Night Stand is performing at Double Barrelled Brewery.
Sunday sees solo shows from Matt Bragg, Michael Odewale, and Dan Collins at Milk Bar, as well as Charlie George’s work in progress show, Divine Comedy.
Josh Baulf, Roman Harries, and Kathyrn Mather are set to perform at The Purple Turtle, following the What’s The Game Improv Showcase.
The Sunday Roast, which sees comedians honing their craft with insult comedy, makes its return to Milk Bar.
Reading Indie Comedy Festival takes place in Double Barrelled Brewery, Milk, The Roseate, The Purple Turtle, and The Outlook from Friday-Sunday, Mar 17-19.
