A restaurant from India is preparing to open its first UK site in Reading.
An eatery called ‘Tanatan’ is gearing up to open a restaurant at 45 London Street.
According to the company’s website, it is a small but global collection of restaurants, with four locations in India and one in Dubai.
Now the dining company looks set to open its first restaurant in the UK in Reading. The premises it will take over, 45 London Street, were previously occupied by the Clays Hyderabadi Indian restaurant.
Clays moved to larger premises at 22-24 Prospect Street, Caversham in February last year.
Hoping to take its former spot, Tantatan has recently applied to sell alcohol from 11am to midnight each day of the week. It has also applied to keep on selling food and drink and playing recorded music from 11pm to midnight each night as well.
An application for these activities has been submitted to Reading Borough Council’s licensing department.
A statutory consultation into the application has begun. You can take part by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk.
The deadline for responses will be reached on Thursday, October 24.
Tanatan has been contacted for comment.
