Former Reading FC striker Andy Carroll is scoring goals at the age of 36 playing for Bordeaux in France.
The veteran forward is enjoying a slower pace of life in the south of France playing for the former French champions, who are now playing in the fourth division of French football after administration saw them suffer a double relegation in 2024.
Carroll was used to earning huge money during his playing days in the Premier League where he famously made a massive £35million move from Newcastle to Liverpool in January 2011 at just 22.
Despite things not working out at Liverpool where he scored just six Premier League goals in 44 appearances, he went on to play in the top flight for West Ham United before returning to Newcastle United.
Carroll then had his first of two spells with Reading in 2021 on a short term deal where he scored twice in eight games. After a short stint with West Brom, he returned to Reading in 2022 where he scored nine league goals in 32 matches.
The former England international then joined French side Amiens before making the move to join Bordeaux in the fourth division in 2024.
Having once earned more than a reported £80,000 a week during his time in the Premier League, it has now been revealed that he earns around £1,372 per month.
Goal.com reported that his wage for the French side is below the French minimum wage for a 35-hour week.
Carroll has been in strong scoring form having netted 10 times in 17 games in National 2 Group B for Bordeaux.
