ONE OF Reading’s LGBTQ+ cabaret events is returning to town with a whole host of performers.

Dogmouth Theatre, a theatre company which specialises in amplifying female voices, is bringing back Howling at the Moon.

The bi-annual show features a range of comedy, drag, music, theatre, and art for a showcase which provides a space for and champions marginalised performers.

While the line-up for the show is yet to be announced, the event has hosted the likes of 2023 Funny Women Award Finalist Rachel Baker, New LGBTQ+ Comedian Of The Year nominee Alison Zrada, and Pride of Reading nominee Big Jay.

Dogmouth Theatre has been based in Reading since it was established in 2019 by playwright and theatre-maker Alice Flynn.

The company has gone on to produce plays, fringe shows, and cabaret, including productions at National Student Drama Festival, VAULT Festival, and Calm Down Dear Festival.

It also produced Alice Flynn’s 1000 Ways The World Will End & How It Starts Again, which was shown at the King’s Head Theatre

It is led by queer and neurodivergent artists, and seeks to provide a space for queer women and marginalised people, especially from underrepsresented backgrounds, to create art “on their own terms.”

In May this year, Dogmouth Theatre were inducted as associate artists of the University of Reading under the mentorship of Dr. Lucy Tyler and Dr. Lisa Woyanarski.

Howling at the Moon: An LGBTQ+ Cabaret takes place at The Rising Sun Arts Centre, Silver Street, from 8pm on Saturday, December 9.
