A HOUSEBUILDER is seeking permission to reduce the number of homes it is constructing.
Ropemaker Properties is currently building more than 400 apartments in Weldale Street, after permission for the scheme – on the site of the former Iceland and Wickes stores – was granted in 2017.
It wants to reduce the number of flats from 427 to 418, and use the ground floor space created to provide amenity space for future occupants in ‘Block B’ of the development, dubbed Foundry Quarter.
The firm has also applied for permission to install solar panels and air source heat pumps.
A similar plan (reference 220512), which included a gym, appeared in May but has been withdrawn.
The new proposal can be seen on Reading Borough Council’s website, by searching the planning portal for application 221160.
