Reading-based children’s author Holly Webb has been unveiled as a south west regional ambassador for girlguiding.
Holly, a brownie and guide leader, has been involved in girlguiding for 26 years. For the last 20 years she has been a children’s author, having written more than 150 books.
It was while she was creating Christmas pantomimes for her guides that she realised how much she loved writing. She cited girlguiding for giving her the inspiration to pursue her passion to become an author.
Holly joins the Girlguiding South West England region as an ambassador to support, inspire and provide even more opportunities to its members.
She said: “I love writing, and I’m so excited to share that love with rainbows, brownies, guides and rangers. It’s wonderful to be able to create a world and let someone else into it when they read your words”.
As an ambassador, Holly hopes to spread some book love with the 47,000 girls and 11,500 volunteers across South West England.
She added: “I’m hoping to set up some online book clubs where we can talk about our favourite reads”.
Holly joins the Region’s other existing ambassadors – a social media content creator, a football coach, a NHS dentist, a former Olympian and rear admiral in the Royal Navy.
Girlguiding is the UK’s largest youth organisation dedicated completely to girls. It would like to provide even more opportunities and experiences for girls and young women.
It welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds, ages, cultures, faiths and abilities.
