PERMISSION has been given to carry out works on protected trees in a presbytery in east Reading.
Work will now start on reducing the height of two Italian cypress trees. A metre will be removed from them as part of the husbandry works.
The grounds of St John Fisher House on Eastern Avenue also house a silver birch and two plum trees. These are also protected.
The house is used by priests who celebrate the traditional Latin Mass in services held at the parish church of St William of York in Upper Redlands Road.
