GREAT Western Railway has announced that there is set to be some disruption to a number of rail lines as a result of rail improvement works taking place in Henley.
From Monday, July 28, to Friday, August 1, Network Rail will work to replace track on the Henley branch line and use the opportunity to carry out a survey of Shiplake bridge.
No trains can run between Twyford and Henley-on-Thames, with replacement buses operating to and from stations affected.
Mian Sarwar, GWR Station Manager for Slough and Maidenhead, said: “This investment work forms part of an ongoing programme of maintenance, helping to ensure we continue to provide consistent and reliable services.
“As well as providing replacement buses, season tickets holders can use the Marlow and Maidenhead branch line for connections into London and Reading, and rail tickets can also be used on the number 850 Carousel bus between Henley and Twyford.
“These arrangements will make journey times longer, so please plan ahead so you don’t get caught out.”
Network Rail programme manager Jason Pankhurst said: “This work is part of our ongoing upgrade programme to ensure the network remains safe and reliable.
“We’re sorry to temporarily close the railway but this ensures we can work as safely and efficiently as possible.”
