MAIDEN ERLEGH SCHOOL praised its student’s ‘incredible work ethic’ as they celebrated their set of grades on GCSE results day.
The school achieved their best set of ‘normal’ results in many years with 33% of students achieving a grade 7-9 (A*/A in old currency) in English and Maths, 76% achieved a 5 or better in English and Maths, representing an 11% increase on 2019 and 86% achieved a 4 (old C) or better in English and Maths.
Paul Gibson, Headteacher, said: “I am extremely proud of the achievements, of all our students, here today. Their resilience and dedication has taken my breath away and I am delighted to join in the celebrations and see so many of our students enjoying their success.
“We must remember that this is the first cohort of students severely impacted by the pandemic that have returned to normal grading distribution, which makes these achievements even more remarkable.”
“I would also like to congratulate our Year 10 cohort, who sat their GCSE RE exam, on their brilliant results. A huge well done.”
