STUDENTS at Highdown School achieved some outstanding outcomes, its headteacher said.

Year-on-year, the Year 11 students achieved higher grades on 2022, despite having their learning journey interrupted by lockdowns and high illness levels following the.

“The students have worked incredibly hard to do so well and the successes that are so pleasing are due to good attendance rates and dedication to their studies,” Rachel Cave said.

“The staff at Highdown have supported students brilliantly in all exams this summer as press stories about grade cutbacks has increased anxiety levels.

“Hopefully, this heralds a more confident era.”

She added that many of the students will return in September for sixth form.
