STUDENTS at Blessed Hugh Farringdon ‘bucked the trend’ according to its headteacher.
The Fawley Road schoolgates opened at 10.30am so pupils could collect their GCSE results, and catch up with each other as it had been the first time many of them had seen each other since the exams finished.
In a statement on the school’s website, Dr Simon Uttley reflected on the cohort’s achievements despite their education being interrupted by the lockdown phase of the covid pandemic.
“In a year when national attainment declined, we are proud to have bucked the trend at GCSE, where core attainment has improved. as well as seeing our Sixth Form students off to university and other settings, including the Universities of Oxford and Durham,” he wrote.
“We are proud of our students, and our staff, for their resilience during such a challenging few years, and this year’s results are a testimony to their commitment.”
