Tom McIntyre headed Reading in front before an own goal ensured the Royals had a two-goal lead going into the break.

Having kept control throughout the first-half, it was a more flat second-half display from the Royals but they managed to grab a third goal when Yakou Meite scored his first goal of the season after capitalising on a calamity of errors from the visitors.

Tom Lees grabbed a consolation goal in stoppage time for the Terriers to deny Reading a clean sheet.

But that didn’t dampen Reading spirits as they were able to celebrate another home victory in front of their biggest home crowd of the season in front of nearly 17,000 fans at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

The games continue to come thick and fast for Reading who host second placed Norwich City on Tuesday evening in a top of the table clash.

Reading then travel away to face Queens Park Rangers on Friday night in a spell that sees them play three games in six days since Saturdays clash against Huddersifeld.
