READING Buses celebrated its annual open day on Sunday, June 25, welcoming members of the public to its depot in Great Knollys Street for a day of fun.
The event saw the rainbow line-up made up of buses from the fleet, as well as vintage buses, a ride-through bus wash, and attractions such as the classic coconut shy, hook-a-duck, and skittles.
Attendees took part in tours of the control room and workshops, as well as an open-top bus tour, with stalls offering memorabilia from a number of local operators.
It also saw appearances from Storm Troopers and a rare summertime showing from Santa himself.
Reading Buses’ Jake Osman said: “The Open Day went wonderfully well– under blue skies and plenty of sunshine, hundreds of families, bus fans, and friends of Reading Buses came and enjoyed behind the scenes tours, games and food.
“We had plenty of volunteers who helped to make the day a wonderful occasion– we are just counting all the takings from the day and hope to be able to announce how much money we have raised for our charity of the year, Royal Berks Charity, in the coming days.”
The Royal Berks Charity provides support for the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust through fundraising and donations, which helps the hospital in a wide range of different ways.
