Changes are under way at a Tilehurst supermarket.
The Co-op, in School Road, is undergoing a rebrand and has submitted a proposal to the council to extend its opening hours.
Part of the changes include moving from its lime green, blue and white colour scheme to the revised corporate identity that sees the return of the famous Co-op cloverleaf logo.
Other stores across the town, including the Co-op at Cemetery Junction, have already been revamped to reflect the new identity, which plays on the company’s heritage.
The branch also is adding a new sign to the store, ‘Welcome to Tilehurst’s Co-op’.
A company spokesperson said: “Co-op’s history dates back 180 years, and as a co-operative, its members – it has more than five million active members – own the business and play an intrinsic part in the governance of the organisation, enjoying a wide number of benefits including member-only price savings across everyday essentials and personalised offers via the Co-op Membership app.”
The rebrand is happening after the Co-op won approval for the shopfront changes on March 27.
The Co-op is also set to stay open longer as well.
The supermarket currently closes at 10pm from Monday to Saturday, and 4pm on Sundays. It will now close at 11pm.
The Co-op has submitted a licensing application to sell alcohol off the premises from 7am to 11pm each day.
A statutory consultation on the licensing application is being undertaken.
Comments, which are public, can be made by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk, with the deadline for responses being Friday, May 10.
The approved application can be seen by searching for reference 240100 in the council’s planning portal.
There is another Co-op at Tilehurst Triangle, located at 86 School Road.
