FOUR men have been jailed following a stabbing in Reading which left the victim in an induced coma.

Dallen Brown, aged 23, of Swallows Croft, Reading; David Nduyimana, aged 22, of Granville Road, Reading; Ashraf Ahmed, aged 18, of Don Close, Reading; and Keenan Dawes, aged 20, also of Swallows Croft, Reading, were found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Following a trial which lasted four weeks and two days, Brown and Nduyimana were found guilty by a unanimous verdict and sentenced to 12 years in prison each at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday, May 20.

At the same court, Ahmed was found guilty by a majority verdict and sentenced to four years in a young offenders’ institute.

It follows an incident which occurred on Friday, October 11, last year, where the victim, a man in his twenties, had been stabbed at an address on Wensley Road.

At around 12.30pm on the day of the incident, Brown, Nduyimana, Ahmed and Dawes entered an address armed with knives and attacked the victim.

He suffered a fractured skull, bleed on the brain, a broken shoulder blade, a stab wound to the chest and a punctured lung.

He was taken to hospital where he was placed in an induced coma.

Following the sentencing, the investigating officer, Detective Constable Grace Dooey of Reading’s Criminal Investigation Department, said: “This was a brutal attack that left the victim with life-threatening injuries in a place where he should have felt safe.

“It is fortunate that he survived, and I want to express my sympathy to him and his loved ones for what they have endured.

“Thanks to the dedication of our officers and support from the community, four individuals have now been held accountable for their actions.

“I also hope that the victim can put this incident behind him and move on with his life in the knowledge that his attackers will be in prison for several years.

“Thames Valley Police remains committed to tackling violent crime and ensuring victims receive the justice they deserve.”
