Former Reading FC striker Andy Carroll is close to completing a move to Belgian side Club Brugge.
According to reports in Belgium, Carroll has been training with Club Brugge and has had medical tests ahead of the Champions League club deciding whether to offer him a contract.
The Royals had been linked with a return for Carroll after he was released by West Bromwich Albion, but it appears that he is set for a move to Belgium.
The 33-year-old made a strong impression at Reading last season despite only being with the club for a very short period.
Carroll played eight Championship games for Veljko Paunovic’s side and netted twice.
Among his two goals, which came in a 3-2 away win at Swansea City and a 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough, he turned out some impressive displays.
The former England international opted to sign for West Brom in January after his short-term deal with the Royals expired.
He made 15 appearances for the Baggies and scored three goals.
The Royals are likely to utilise the free agents market this summer due to being under a transfer embargo, but it looks as if they are set to miss out on Carroll.
Club Brugge were crowned as Belgian Pro League champions last season which meant that they qualified for the Champions League.
