Former Reading FC star Ovie Ejaria has posted a video on Instagram which has suggested that he is training with the club.

Ejaria departed Reading in December 2023 after his contract was mutually terminated, but he posted a video on Instagram which appears to show him training with one of the club’s academy sides.

Now without a club since leaving the Royals, the most likely outcome is that Reading are allowing Ejaria to train with the club in order to gain fitness ahead of trying to pursue a new club for pre-season.

Ejaria first joined the Royals on a loan deal from Liverpool in January 2019 and helped the team to survival under Jose Gomes.

He then rejoined on another loan spell for the 2019/20 campaign under Mark Bowen and made 36 Championship appearances.

His impressive loan spells led to Reading triggering the option to sign Ejaria on a permanent deal from Liverpool for around £3million on a four-year contract.

Ejaria performed well under Veljko Paunovic as the Royals narrowly missed out on the play-offs in 2021/22, but he soon began to fall out of favour and managed just eight league appearances in his final two seasons at the club before his contract was terminated.

The 26-year-old last played in a competitive fixture when he came off the bench for Reading in a 2-0 defeat to Watford in November 2022.
