A former Reading FC manager is set to be named as the Brazil national team’s new assistant manager under legendary boss Carlo Ancelotti.
Former Royal Paul Clement will join up with Ancelotti who will be named as Brazil’s new manager.
The pair have a long working relationship together as Clement boasts a strong CV having coached at Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid alongside the Italian.
65-year-old Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid this summer to take up the post as Brazil manager having spent four years as Madrid boss during his second spell at the club.
53-year-old Clement is now expected to have a senior coaching role with Brazil from next month.
Clement did try his hand at being a first-team manager, but did not manage to find the same success as he has as a number two.
Clement managed Derby County for one season, but was sacked by Mel Morris despite only being five points behind leaders Hull City in the 2015/16 season.
After being assistant manager at Bayern with Ancelotti, he was appointed as manager of Premier League Swansea City, but was sacked at the start of the 2017/18 campaign.
Clement then joined Reading in M However, Clement lasted just seven months with the Royals and was dismissed in December 2018 with the club only above the relegation zone in the Championship on goal difference. Since then, Clement has managed at Cercle Brugge and was part of Frank Lampard’s backroom staff at Everton.
