Southern Region Women’s League Cup

READING FC WOMEN progressed past TILEHURST PANTHERS as they completed a second-half fightback before taking the tie on penalties.

It was the Panthers who made a flying start to the cup contest when Leah Why put them in front after five minutes.

That lead was doubled when Lydia Vettesse ensured Tilehurst had a 2-0 advantage going into the break.

The Royals came fighting back and were firmly back in the tie when Mia Bradley made it 2-1 just minutes after the whistle sounded for the second-half.

The game was levelled through Lucy Bolitho in the 60th minute which took the game to a penalty shootout.

After five penalties each it was Reading who squeezed through as Cherry Preisner saved from Tilehurst before Zuzanna Gaizler netted the winning kick to give Reading a 5-4 win.

ASCOT UNITED booked their place in the next round as they dispatched WOODLEY UNITED.

Goals from Chloe Ball, Leah Robertson, Olivia Glover and Sophie Doyle gave the Yellas a 4-1 success.

CAVERSHAM UNITED crashed out with a 12-1 away loss to Beaconsfield Town.

Thames Valley Women’s Division One

FINCHAMPSTEAD made it four wins from six with a thumping win over North Leigh.

Lauren Smaje bagged a hat-trick and goals from Matilda Richards, Ebony Day, Lauren Bagshaw and Chloe Bagshaw racked up an 8-1 win.

YATELEY UNITED were defeated 13-2 by league leaders Larkspur Rovers.

ASHRIDGE PARK picked up an away point with a 2-2 stalemate at Ruislip Rangers.

Ruby Owen and Ellie Messitt were on the scoresheet for Ashridge.

Thames Valley Women’s Division Two

S4K LADIES moved up with a 4-2 away victory at Harwell and Hendred with a double from Joanna Liddell and a goal from Abigail McKellar.

Thames Valley Women’s Division 3S

BERKS COUNTY were edged out at home to Taplow United in a thrilling contest.

Olivia Aluko scored twice and Kiah Owen and Lauren Turk also netted, but they lost 5-4.

SANDHURST WOLVES climbed up to 5th with an impressive 6-1 victory over Barton Rovers.

Caitlin Ryan scored four, Macy Linn and Grace Bentoin added to the score.

WARGRAVE picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 success against Brook House with goals from Amy Bennett and Charlie Kirk.

AFC READING lost out 6-1 at home to Taplow United, while WOKINGHAM TOWN were beaten 11-1 by Windsor & Eton.
