ASCOT UNITED climbed to the top of the table in one of only two fixtures in the entire division that survived the weather.
Up against third placed Egham in a fixture pitting two of the top three against each other, it was the Yellas who claimed all three points.
Both sides were locked at 0-0, but the game took a twist when Ascot lost Louis Bouwers who was shown a straight red card.
Despite being a player down, Ascot regrouped and grabbed the advantage when Brendam Matthew continued his excellent scoring form when he converted from the penalty spot.
Both sides traded chances and goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown made a vital stop to keep Egham out and minutes later Ascot extended their lead.
After Harry Grant’s corner was met by Matthew and kept out, Alfie Grant latched onto the loose ball and put it in the net to put Ascot 2-0 ahead.
The win, which is Ascot’s 14th in the league in just 16 games, puts them one point ahead of Reading City at the top of the table with both teams having played the same number of matches.
Ascot host 13th placed Windsor on Saturday, December 17.
