A NEW running event will take place in Henley this weekend and places are still open.

The first RunThrough Henley River 10k and Half Marathon will be held on Sunday, September 3, and organisers say they have been overwhelmed by demand from runners.

The routes have been designed with both experienced runners and newcomers alike, and take in both riverside and the town centre.

Those crossing the finish line will receive a medal, their official run time and access to event photography.

The event’s charity partner is Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Matt Wood, co-founder of RunThrough, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to bring the RunThrough Henley River 10k and Half Marathon races to Henley-on-Thames.

“We have carefully crafted the race routes to provide a truly unique experience.

“All runners taking part will be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of this beautiful town while pushing themselves to be active and achieve their goals.

“Part of RunThrough’s mission is to inspire an active nation through running and the more fantastic events like this one we bring under our banner the closer we come to achieving this.”

The company organise a range of races across the country, including the Surrey Half Marathon.
