A CHILDREN’S charity will hold a multi tinted event to raise money for families experiencing financial hardship.

People who join First Days Children’s Charity’s Colour Run can walk, run, dance, crawl or hop their way around a 2.5km long course, and are sure to be changed by the experience.

As they progress around the course, runners will be pelted with powdered paint at four colour stations, emerging a different colour.

Those wanting a deeper hue can purchase additional paint to throw amongst themselves.

The tinted powder used at the event is made from food grade cornstarch.

As with any substance, the aim is to keep it out of runners’ eyes and mouths, and colour throwers will be targeting only from shoulders to feet.

Participants can travel the course once, or even twice, if they like.

And by the time they have completed their run, they should look considerably more colourful.

Entry to the fundraising event includes a white t-shirt, collected on the day but First Days says that they’re pretty confident that these won’t remain white for long.

They suggest wearing items that people don’t mind getting dirty, and recommend washing clothes soon afterwards.

To protect eyes, all entrants must wear sunglasses or goggles.

Paint packets, sweatbands, garlands, and sunglasses if needed, can be purchased in advance or on the day.

All children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult onsite at the event, and all paint must be aimed away from faces.

Refreshments can be purchased at the event, with Phantom Brewing serving a coloured brew beer to quench runners’ thirsts, and Unholy Donuts selling colourful treats.

To make the event accessible to as many as possible, First Days are operating a tiered pricing structure, with three tiers.

Tier 1( a limited number of tickets) is for those without a reliable income, or struggling with basic expenses.

Tier 2 is for families keeping to a budget, but able to afford modest luxuries like nights out.

And Tier 3 is for those who are financially secure.

There is no difference in terms of the event experience, and no need for any disclosure.

People are asked to register at the level appropriate to their circumstances.

The event takes place at Prospect Park, Liebenrood Road, Reading, on Sunday, May 14, with the run starting at 2pm.

Individual tickets cost:

Tier 1 – £10.50

Tier 2 – £17.35

Tier 3 – £21.00

Group tickets (four people) cost:

Tier 1 – £39.90

Tier 2 – £60.80

Tier 3 – £71.00
