Femi Azeez has sent a farewell message to Reading Football Club after he completed his transfer switch to Championship side Millwall yesterday.
The 23-year-old winger made a total of 89 appearances in all competitions for the Royals having joined the club in 2019.
He was a vital part of Ruben Selles’ team last campaign and contributed eight goals and nine assists in League One to help the Royals survive.
The club has described Azeez’s move as a ‘significant fee’ despite not disclosing the amount.
The Royals triggered an extension in Azeez’s contract in the summer to extend his deal for another year which ensured that they took a fee for the player.
Taking to Instagram, Azeez said: “The last 5 years have been special. I joined as an 18 year old with ambitions to play professionally and I’ve been incredibly fortunate enough to have done so. I couldn’t have done it without the amazing support of my teammates, all the staff behind the scenes and the fans which I was lucky enough and grateful to play in front of.
“I wish nothing but the best to everyone and thank you for the special memories.”
