Former Reading FC star Ovie Ejaria has signed for a new club after almost two years away from football.

Ejaria has been without a club since leaving Reading after his contract was terminated in December 2023.

Ejaria has now joined Spanish side Real Oviedo, who are managed by former Reading manager Veljko Paunovic.

Oviedo enjoyed a historic season last campaign as they won promotion to La Liga, inspired by former Arsenal star, 40-year-old Santi Cazorla.

Ejaria, 27, showed plenty of promise during his first two loan spells with Reading which prompted the club to spend around £3million to purchase him on a permanent deal from Liverpool in 2020.

However, that early promise quickly faded as his performances dipped and a seemingly poor attitude in training cost him his regular place in the team under the management of Paul Ince.

He played a total of 127 games for Reading in all competitions.

After a long spell on the sidelines due to a combination of injuries and poor discipline, Ejaria was let go by the club in 2023 and has not had a permanent home since.

He had a trial with Plymouth Argyle last season when they were in the Championship, but they decided against offering him a contract.

However, he will now ply his trade in La Liga next season as he seeks a fresh start under Paunovic.
