Swindon Town have completed the signing of former Reading FC winger Junior Hoilett, the club has confirmed. The Canadian international has joined the League Two side on a permanent deal until the end of the 2025/26 season.
The 35-year-old, who spent two seasons with Reading between 2021 and 2023, made over 60 appearances for the Royals. He was used in multiple different positions under manager Paul Ince, often at wing-back in a Royals team that were relegated from the Championship in 2022/23.
Hoilett arrives at the County Ground having most recently been with Scottish Premiership side Hibernian, where he featured regularly and contributed goals and assists in the 2024/25 campaign.
Speaking after completing the move, Hoilett said he was “really excited” to join Swindon and was looking forward to contributing both on and off the pitch.
Swindon boss Ian Holloway, who previously managed Hoilett at Queens Park Rangers, welcomed the experienced attacker to his squad as part of a busy January transfer window.
The forward’s move is seen as a bid to secure regular first-team football ahead of this summer’s World Cup, co-hosted by Canada and the United States, with Hoilett hoping consistent minutes will boost his chances of national selection.
Hoilett’s career has taken in Premier League and Championship football, along with spells in both Scotland and Major League Soccer, and his wealth of experience is expected to be a key asset for Swindon as they push for promotion from League Two.
