According to reports, Everton have shown late interest in making a move for Reading FC forward Lucas Joao.

The Royals striker is out of contract this summer which means that the club may be keen to do a deal to cash in before his deal expires.

The Toffees are looking to add to their squad after selling Anthony Gordon to Newcastle for £45million.

The Merseyside club are currently in turmoil and are in a relegation scrap for the second consecutive season.

Having sacked Frank Lampard last week after four Premier League defeats on the bounce, Everton hired Sean Dyche to take over.

Joao joined Reading on a four-year contact from Sheffield Wednesday in August 2019 after completing a deal for around £6million.

He has proved to be a prolific goalscorer, netting 42 times in 97 matches.

His best scoring tally came in the 2020/21 season under Veljko Paunovic where Reading narrowly missed out on the play-offs after Joao scored 19 times in 39 matches.

However, he has fallen out of favour under Paul Ince and has scored just four times in 14 games this campaign.
