A coffee chain has successfully taken over a closed cafe at a newly created ‘village’ in Reading.
Esquires Coffee has opened at Green Park Village after taking over the closed Triple Two Coffee cafe.
The brand provides a breakfast and lunch food menu along with coffee, teas and matcha drink options.
The company successfully applied to sell alcohol from 7am to 10pm each day following a licensing application to Reading Borough Council.
However, alcoholic drinks were not available when the cafe was visited on Monday, January 26.
It is understood that alcoholic drinks will be added to the offering soon.
The Esquires Coffee website states that alcohol is available at selected locations, serving a curated menu of alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, beers, and wines, designed for evening, dining, or socialising.
That includes coffee-based cocktails such as Espresso Martinis and Irish Coffee.
Esquires Coffee has been contacted for more information.
The cafe is located at the ground floor of a five-storey apartment block next to Green Park Village Primary School in Flagstaff Road.
Drivers can make use of three visitor spaces within a car park accessed from Maine Street and Champlain Street in the village.
The alcohol licence was approved after a statutory consultation ended last December with no objections being received.
It comes as the area has no late-night venues.
A Tesco Express opened near the Green Park train station in the summer of 2023.
The Tesco is open from 7am to 10pm at night.
Esquire Coffee has nearly 100 locations, with other cafes in Newbury, Crowthorne and Windsor.
