AN EMPTY retail unit in Whitley is set to be converted into a convenience store.

The former Christian Community Action charity shop occupied a position at the end of a parade in Northumberland Avenue, near its junction with Whitley Wood Road.

Now, PM Wine has applied to Reading Borough Council for a licence to sell alcohol from the shop between 8am and 11pm daily.

Comments on the application, which are publicly accessible, can be made by Tuesday, April 30. They can be emailed to: licensing@reading.gov.uk.

While Christian Community Action has closed this branch, it still operates shops in Oxford Road, Coronation Square in Southcote and in Wood Lane, Sonning Common.
