A MAN from Earley has been jailed following a stabbing in Reading.
Jordan Musa, aged 27, of London Road, Earley, was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison at Reading Crown Court on Monday, February 13.
A jury unanimously found Musa guilty of one count each of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place at the same hearing following a four-day trial.
Musa had appeared at Reading Crown Court on April 5 last year in relation to an incident in which he punched two men during an altercation.
Musa pleaded guilty to the charge of affray, but four days later, at around 6.20pm on Saturday, April 9, Musa stabbed a man in his forties in the side of his chest, which pierced the victim’s ribs, and then stabbed him in the thigh.
The victim’s lungs were narrowly avoided, and though he required stitches, he survived.
Musa was arrested the following day, Sunday, April 10., and charged on Monday, April 11
Detective Sergeant Alexander Willis, of Reading CID, said: “I am satisfied a dangerous offender has been removed from the streets of Reading for a considerable period of time following our investigation.
“Thames Valley Police will not tolerate knife crime in Reading or anywhere else on its patch.
“I hope this conviction dissuades others of potentially carrying out violence or carrying a knife as we are determined to bring offenders to justice.
“If you have any information or know of someone who is carrying a knife, you can report this to us on 101 or online, or for 100% anonymity, by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
